Little Lush Haul!

I love lush. You love lush. We all love lush. Right? Well I do… I don’t love the bombardment in the store though. However the guy at the checkout was lovely and we were dancing to “You spin me round” as he was sorting my purchase out. Lol. I was pretty tired but it was a great day.

I repurchased my long standing favourite – Think Pink.. I never go in to Lush shopping and not buy it! Also repurchasing the Comforter. I adore the Creamy Candy but I feel the comforter is much better value and it generally lasts longer. Also purchased the Ickle Baby Bot and Sex Bomb. Undecided if I’ll review them yet. Will be using Sex Bomb tonight!

Have you tried these?

Superdrug Tea Tree – Cleansing Pads

You probably already know this, but Superdrug have a range of Tea Tre products. I’ve tried a few, they’re ridiculously cheap, especially when they had 3 for 2 deals on them and stuff. I picked these up thinking that they’d be pretty good for me. I think I may have been right!

They are of course, tea tree, they smell like peppermint, but they do have peppermint oils in so go figure.. so for that reason without even reading.. keep them away from your eyes. It kinda stings! Not that I accidentally got my eye or anything! Also, these are not tested on animals and paraben free. Yay! I love the packaging, the pot is awesome. You could use it for something after you’re done! And when you take the lid off, the pads are covered with foil.

One side of the cleansing pad is rough, and the other is smooth. You can probably guess you use the rough side, and then the soft side. Nice and soothing, though the rough side can be a bit scratchy after it’s used a bit. They are quite effective at cleansing the skin, I found. I then usually follow with their tea-tree moisturiser, or cleanser/toner then moisturiser. Well I did.. I have so many products, I’m kind of inconsistent with my regime, this is my more lazy regime I think. I tend to use it more when I’m more poorly and stuck in bed, which is also when I tend to break out the most so quite useful to have tea tree then.

So yeah. I would reccomend this product, especially if you could do with a quick and easy cleansing solution. I think they would be great to pop in your bag when you’re on the go. :D I take them with me when I visit and stay over my parents a long with a black eyeliner and my naked palette, and tea tree moisturiser. Take as few products as possible! Well I do. Pain in the backside carrying a load of stuff and you probably won’t use half of it! I’ve already re-purchased this product!

Available from Superdrug! £2.99 I think!

BeautyUK – Posh Polish (Elfstone)

It’s been a whole since I’ve done a nails post, I’ve got a LOT of nail polishes that I want to try and write about, just I’ve been stuck in bed more than usual, that’s why theres been a lot more skin care posts and such because they’re the easiest thing to photograph and post about whenever. :)

BeautyUK recently released their Posh Polish range. A range of foily/shimmery metalics. As a fan of beautyUK, I decided to pick a couple of up. This one is Elfstone.

The polish applied a lot smoother than I was expecting, which honestly, after my experience with Barry M foil polishes, was not a lot. It wasn’t really gritty, lumpy or streaky, it applied completely smoothly, and dried level unlike Barry M, it was only slightly gritty when removing it, which was still pretty easy, not much more effort than your standard nail polish. Staying power was pretty average.
Liked these far more than I was expecting.

So have you tried any of the polish polishes? Do you intend to?

£3.99 from Superdrug or online if I recall rightly!

Montagne Jeunesse – Break-Out Mask

One of the new Skin Heroes range. Product I was very excited to try! The break-out mask is for problem skin.. prone to breakouts! (duh). Like the other masks in the range, this is a two stage programme! In half of the sachet, you have a green facemask, in the other, a moisturiser.

To me, the facemaks smelled a little like liquorice/aniseed, mint and tea tree/witch hazel… I’m not great at identifing scents, but that’s how my nose interepreted it! The mask went more white when it dried, which amused me. I have a good ol’ pizza face right now, so I tried this. I dunno what I was expecting. To be honest, I didn’t find it did anything literally for me, but it was a first time use. I think we need to make it a once a week date. I did find using it actually broke me out in lots of tiny bumpy spots (but not white heads) but I feel it may have been the mask drawing it more to the surface, get the rubbish out of my skin.. while horrible at the moment, I rather it detox like that! My skin did feel softer and cleaner afterwards though. I will be using more again at the weekend again and hopefully my skin will see improvement. I have a good feeling about it.

The moisturiser smells minty. Witch hazel and peppermint? It resembles my usual moisturiser actually, but with a nicer consistency. It went a long way, I got 2 uses and then another less lavish use out of the amount in the sachet. Brilliant! It left me feeling refreshed and fresh-faced. Important to me. My face didn’t feel sticky or weighed down.

So, unsure how well it worked in regards to helping my break-out, but still felt quite nice.

Range is £1.49 each online or at ASDA.

The Body Shop – Chocomania Soap

A short while ago, the body shop released a new range called Chocomania. I was having a little browse in store and I saw this hearshaped soap and decided I wanted it. I knew nothing about it! It wasn’t labelled or anything other than the little tri-layered ingredients etc sticker on the back. I just thought, hmm, scrubby soap, looks nice, stuff it, I’ll buy it, try it, and let you know what I think. The reciept told me it was chocolate soap, so when I got home, I looked the product up and discovered it is part of their new Chocomania range and then I remembered I saw, and dismissed the email announcing the new range. Whoops. I’m not one for chocolate scented things really, you see. But too me, it doesn’t particularly smell chocolatey.

When I bought it, the woman asked if I had previously purchased it. I said no… she warned me it could be quite rough, especially if I’m not used to exfoliating soaps. I used a differen’t exfoliator soap before but usually steer clear of soaps in general as they dry my skin and using body butter is effort. But I decided I’d pamper myself. Also, as I like to have a bath, it means less bits in my bath!

The soap IS rather scratchy, it depends how hard you press to how scratchy it is. It has buts of coconut shell in for scrubby bits and they also have cocoa butter, though I didn’t feel any benefits of the cocoa butter… It does lather quite nicely, better than I was expecting actually. I love their heart shape! They also do mini ones. But I think the bigger one would be better, simply because it fits in the palm of your hand perfectly. I slathered myself in Wild Cherry Body Butter that I got for £2 in the body shop, too (a small one) I think so cheap because they’ve discontinued it? They don’t have it on the site and I saw no big ones in store.. shame as it smells edible. Yum. It’s not. Just so you know. Also bought handcream.. miffed cus they just halved the price! Typical. Lol.

Chocomania costs £2 from the body shop!

Shea Mooti – Mama’s Everything Body Balm

No! I didn’t suddenly have a baby, nor am I pregnant, despite the name, with this product, it doesn’t matter. This seems to be one of the most useful products I’ve come across. While I only had a sample pot of it, it’s quite like Moa – The Green Balm which I tweeted about what a miracle worker it seemed to be. It got rid of my coldsores after two days. Brilliant. Shea Mooti claims their everything body balm is pretty much good for everything! I think they’re probably right! While I haven’t had a cold sore since the end of last year to try it on, I imagine it’d work quite well.

Image from Shea Mooti

Award Winning! It is suitable for vegetarians, and not tested on animals. They’re an Ethical skin care brand and use organic ingredients. I love their packaging. The containers simple, the label is pretty, and I adore their logo. First that hit me was the smell. I don’t really like it amazingly, but I find it perfectly tolerable. I just sort of expected it to smell more like shea butter (well they’re called Shea Mooti! And the product does contain Shea Butter). The appearance of the balm is incredibly dense, but it’s actually not. I was surprised just how soft it was, my finger just squidged in to it. It’s a very smooth balm, and yet lumpy. I know that might be hard to understand… You don’t need a lot of this butter. It’s very smooth, feels quite oily at first, but it’s lumpy too, but these lumps soon dissolve, rub in, and it doesn’t leave a horrible oily feeling on the skin, but it doesn’t soak instantly either. Some people dislike that, but for me, that’s a good sign. Usually skin care products absorb so quickly because things are forced in with other chemicals. This is a product you may use on your baby, they wouldn’t do that!

See what I mean about dense looking? I tried this product on my very dry elbows, massive help. I tried it on my stretch marks, they’re still there. Shucks. Well, it’s not gonna work instantly, right? XD I think I’ll keep it up and see if it helps reduce the appearance. I used it on patches of eczema, it didn’t make it itch or irritate, which a lot of products can do. I also used it on dry patches either side of my nose. That was ace, it helped quite a lot with that. It worked as a nice barrier next time I blew my nose, so I see what they mean about baby bum barrier. You can use this balm pretty much anywhere. Though avoid the nipple area if breastfeeding. You can even use this on your lips, though that one’s not for me. I lick my lips a lot.. it doesn’t taste great! XD

It leaves your skin feeling soft, a little firmer and is all round pretty plesant to use! When I first applied it and it was lumpy, alarm bells rang and I was expecting to be complaining about my oily gritty skin in half an hour. Nope. None of that rubbish from Shea Mooti!

Mama’s everything body balm costs £16.99 and is available from Shea Mooti online. You can also like their facebook page for 10% off! Also click #WhatSheMeans to be entered in to win £500 of Shea Mooti goodies, and be a part of something special. You can also be part of their advert!

Treacle Moon – Iced Strawberry Dream

Treacle Moon have released a Spring Special Edition product! Iced Strawberry Dream.. Drool. I was really interested when I heard about this, because Treacle Moon really listen to their customers. They let you make suggestions for new scents.

Since 2009, a monthly competition has been running from the brand’s website, www.treaclemoon.net, which encourages fans of the range to submit their suggestions for new fragrances and the front of pack ‘fairy tale stories’ that they invoke. In 2011, the Treacle Moon team set up a league table for all the suggestions to date and since the New Year, have been sending out different pots of tester fragrances and running surveys and polls amongst the brand’s Facebook community (www.Facebook.com/TreacleMoonOfficial), allowing them to shape the creation of this Spring’s forthcoming special edition – Iced Strawberry Dream bath & shower gel (£2.99 / 500ml).

As soon as this landed on my door-step, I flipped the cap and gave it a wiff. Isn’t that the first thing we all do? Oh my gosh. I fell in love. It smells literally like strawberry icing. Sweet, juicy, a bit sticky. Yum! I’m warning you now.. it doesn’t taste like it. Candy. One of those candy scents!

Treacle Moon founder, Penny Anderson, said, “Charles Henry Nelson, Treacle Moon’s Creative
Director, Head Garden Gnome and purveyor of all our best ideas, has been delighted to work with our
fans on this project and thinks that they are all very clever, indeed. We think that our community has
enjoyed this process as much as we have – and we’re already looking forward to starting work on the
Autumn edition. Those excited to take part should follow our antics on Facebook, or via the news page
of www.treaclemoon.net

They really did well on this one. I was craving cake before I had a shower, afterwards I just didn’t want it anymore too, I wonder if that was intentional or not. I was worried about the scent being too strong, it wasn’t really. It also lathers really nicely. This Iced Strawberry Dream bath and shower gel with a good showerpuff… oh gosh. A wonderful experience. I felt a little like a child again, in a sweets shop. And for afters? My skin was left soft and gently scented. No drying like I get with some products!

As for in the bath? Not amazing, it did make bubbles, but not as many as I’d have liked and I couldn’t really smell the scent either, the only negative I really found with this product! Although if you saw my Lush Comforter post, you know how I like it. I’m particular, and I spend a very long time in my bath. Co-incidentally, I had a Comforter bath and used this to wash last night and I think I died a little bit. My newest favourite combo. I felt wrapped up and carefree. Awesome!

Iced Summer Dream will launch into Tesco stores, from March 2012, and should be nationwide by June 2012, priced £2.99 (500ml, equivalent to £0.60 per 100ml). You can find more information at Treacle Moon!

BYS Metallics – Pinks/Blues

BYS is an australian brand that we don’t really get here in the UK, but I traded with a friend over the pond to get a few BYS products. They have some gorgeous colours, she got me the palette I wanted as well as a few “lucky dip”/her choice items. This was one of the products I chose. You can see one of the other palettes she sent me here.

As you can see, a gorgeous range of colours there. They seem quite talcy but they’re nice, I would definitely make sure I remember to prime before using these though. It seems to not have very hard staying power and fades quickly, though you can achieve a stronger look using them wet I imagine, but I haven’t tried how well they work like that.

Really pretty spectrum of colours right? What do you think? Have you gotten your hands on this?

BYS Metallics costs somewhat under $5AUSD but I can’t remember how much specifically.
